The 2007 Etape
starting in Foix (profile), has brought renewed interest
in the Ariège from the cycling world.
In fact, many of the Pyrenean stages have passed through the area with the
Cols of ;
Portet d'Aspet (1069m)
Port (1249m)
Puymorens (1915m)
Ares (797m)
Portillon (1308m)
Peyresourde (1569m)
Mente (1349m) and
Port de Bales (1755m)
all regularly playing a part. There have also been a number of non-mountain
stages passing through the valleys.
Bike Ariège offers the opportunity to ride these Cols and others
in the area in training or competitive situations.
